MAY 2021

Things are beginning to stir here at Cloud Nine after the long involuntary hibernation. As we prod awake our steering group members, it’s time to let you know what’s coming up.

On Saturday Sept 18, The Exchange, North Shields, as part of its Heritage Programme, is presenting three theatre pieces associated with North Shields recent history and we’re delighted to have been invited to take part.

Cloud Nine will be staging a twenty minute extract from Fire & Water – The Thomas Brown Story, the long-delayed new play by myself about the young Shields lad whose heroic efforts in helping rescue the Enigma Code documents from a sinking German U-Boat helped shorten World War 11 by several months.

The full production opens for a week at the Exchange on Monday November 1 and tickets, now on sale at the venue, will be available at the September event.

Meantime, we’re also looking at the possibility of staging a new small-scale sketch show to tour locally sometime in the Summer or Autumn. Eight new sketches have been written – more on this later.

I will be hoping to revive our theatre writing workshops which were another victim of lockdown. I’m shortly to contact the workshop members to see if they’ve survived the pandemic.

More anon!
