Neil Armstrong and myself auditioned five young actors for our performance of Fire & Water at The Exchange, North Shields on Saturday Sept 18. This 20 minute extract is one of three pieces from new North Shields related plays and forms part of a full day’s community activities at the venue inspired by the town.

On a boiling hot day at Washington Arts Centre, everyone kept their cool and the final choice was difficult. We plumped for Anthony Broderick, Hannah Marie Davis and Eleanor Beck, who will play Thomas, his sister Margaret and Gypsy Rose Lee on the 18th. All three actors are on the books of the relatively new Craig Conway & Andrea Davison’s New Town Artists Management, who we hope to be working with more in the future. They are based at the centre.

We’ll be showcasing scenes from Thomas Brown’s pre-nautical days in Shields. Tickets from The Exchange.

Full auditions will take place in the Autumn.
The full production opens Monday Nov. 1st.
