The Plughole
(Life Goes Down the Drain)

A Bathroom Absurdity by Peter Mortimer

Cloud Nine's fourth production at the Low Lights Tavern, North Shields' oldest pub, The Plughole recounts the bizarre happenings after the character Gravity gets his toe stuck in the bath plughole. Written by the company's artistic director Peter Mortimer, it is either a deeply metaphysical play on eternal human dilemmas, a piece on the perils of ancient plumbing, or a bit of both. It is nothing like TV soaps! The show ran for four performances, three with live music, the fourth early-bird show with free soup and a roll.

"The play takes on an otherworldly feel, as if we are in some kind of parallel universe. It kept the packed audience constantly amused."
