Laurel & Hardy in Tynemouth

Cloud Nine was heavily involved in the opening event of the 2014 Whitley Bay Film Festival at The Grand Hotel, Tynemouth on Sunday August 10.

Laurel & Hardy in Tynemouth, which celebrated the famous comedy duo's visit in 1932, featured our 30 minute opening extract of the final (unfinished) Tom Hadaway play of the same name, directed by the author's playwright daughter, Pauline Hadaway.

Actors Zoe Hakin, Harry Gallagher, Dave Raynor and Dylan Mortimer played to a packed audience in the same suite that Laurel and Hardy occupied, back in 1932.
In the centre is director, Pauline Hadaway.

The performance was followed by viewing of their classic, The Music Box, inspired by Stan Laurel's memories of the steep steps leading up from the Fish Quay. Laurel grew up in North Shields.
